The plans and what they cost
There are four plans. Open is free: no card, no trial that turns into a charge, and no part of it expires. The three paid plans are rolling monthly subscriptions with no minimum term, or a fixed twelve months paid up front.
| Plan | A month, rolling | 12 months, paid up front | 12 monthly payments would be | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Open | Free | Free | — | — |
| Data | £7.95 | £79.50 | £95.40 | £15.90 less |
| Applying | £16.95 | £169.50 | £203.40 | £33.90 less |
| Pro | £25.95 | £259.50 | £311.40 | £51.90 less |
The monthly figure is the whole price of a month, and there is nothing else to pay in that month. The twelve-month figure is the whole price of the year, taken as one payment at the start, and that total is the price — not a monthly figure with a commitment attached to it. Which plan includes which features is on the pricing page, generated from the same file as these prices so that the two cannot disagree.
There is no VAT to add. Assize Data Ltd is not registered for VAT, so the price above is the price charged, and no fee, charge or tax appears later in the checkout. If the company registers for VAT we will say so on this page before it affects anyone, and tell every subscriber by email before a renewal at a different price.
What you are agreeing to, before you pay
The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 require us to give you this before you are bound by anything. It is also on the confirmation screen, on one page, with nothing hidden behind a link you have to open.
- Who you contract with
- Assize Data Ltd, company number 17510115, registered office c/o IWN Accountancy, The Echo Building, 18 Albert Road, Bournemouth BH1 1BZ. Trading as Assize Careers. Contact: enquiries@assizedata.co.uk.
- What you are buying
- Access, for as long as the subscription runs, to the parts of this site that your plan includes: data pages and tools, original practice material, and on the Pro plan one written review of a CV and one application answer in each application cycle. The feature list for each plan is on the pricing page.
- The total price
- £7.95, £16.95 or £25.95 for each month, or £79.50, £169.50 or £259.50 for twelve months paid up front, depending on the plan. No delivery charge, no joining fee, no payment surcharge and nothing else to pay.
- How long it lasts, and how it renews
- A monthly plan renews every month and a twelve-month plan every twelve months, at the same price, until you end it. There is no minimum term on a monthly plan and no notice period on any plan; a twelve-month plan is paid in one payment at the start, so those twelve months are the term you have bought.
- The minimum you can become liable for
- One month on a monthly plan, which is £7.95 to £25.95 depending on the plan. On a twelve-month plan it is the twelve-month price, because that is taken in one payment at the start.
- How and when you are charged
- By the card you give at the checkout, taken by Stripe. The first payment is taken when you subscribe and each later payment on the renewal date, until you cancel. The amount is the price of the plan you chose, and it does not vary with how much you use the site.
- When we remind you
- We email you 7 days before a monthly renewal and 28 days before a twelve-month one, once for each renewal, saying the date, the amount and how to stop it.
- How to end it
- Online, from your account page, at any time. No fee, no notice period, no telephone call and no email to a person.
- Changing your mind
- 14 days from the day after the contract is made, with a proportionate deduction only for work a person has already done for you. The section below sets this out properly.
- Your statutory rights
- The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires a paid digital service to be of satisfactory quality, fit for its described purpose and as described. Those rights cannot be excluded and nothing we write replaces them.
- What it runs on
- Any current browser on any device. Nothing to install, no app, and every page of figures and every guide works with JavaScript turned off. The timed practice sets and the CV checker need JavaScript. Data downloads on the Pro plan are CSV files that open in any spreadsheet.
- Complaints and out-of-court redress
- Email us first, then the company’s complaints procedure. We are not a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme and no ombudsman covers this kind of subscription, so beyond our own procedure the remaining route is the courts.
What you authorise when you give us a card
By subscribing you authorise Assize Data Ltd to instruct the bank that issued your card to take payments from it, in line with these terms: one payment now, and one payment on each renewal date until you cancel, each one for the published price of the plan you chose. Stripe takes the payments on our behalf and holds the card details; we never see or store them.
What you get in writing
When the subscription starts we email you to say which plan is active, that you can cancel at any time from your account page with no fee, and that you have 14 days to change your mind with a proportionate deduction only for work a person has already done for you. Stripe sends the receipt, and every receipt and invoice stays in the billing portal, which you reach from your account page. Keep that email: it is your record of this contract, and this page is the rest of it.
How to cancel
Two steps, both online, both from your account page: open the billing portal, then cancel. The portal is Stripe’s own page, which is where the card lives. You do not have to give a reason, there is no retention screen, no fee and no notice period, and there is no telephone number to ring because this is not a product you need to be talked out of leaving.
Cancelling stops the next payment. You keep everything in your plan until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then the account drops to the free plan. We email you to confirm, with the date access ends.
If you cancel in the first 14 days, read the next section instead: that is a refund, not just a stop.
Closing your account is a different thing from cancelling. Closing deletes what you have made here; cancelling stops the payments. Closing does not cancel the payment, so cancel first, or it keeps renewing.
Changing your mind in the first 14 days
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from the day after the contract is made to cancel and get your money back. You do not have to give a reason.
Because access starts the moment you pay, we ask for that separately at the checkout: there are three tick boxes on the confirmation screen, none of them pre-ticked, and the checkout is refused without all three. The first is agreeing to these terms. The second is your express request that the subscription start straight away, before the 14 days are up, and your acknowledgement that if you then cancel inside them we may keep a proportionate amount for work a person has already done for you. The third is that you are 18 or over, because we do not sell a paid plan to anybody younger.
The deduction is narrow on purpose. Almost everything here is digital content, and for digital content we keep nothing: cancel inside the 14 days and you are refunded in full. The only thing we deduct for is work a person has actually done for you in that window — a review of your CV, or an answer to a support request — charged in proportion to what the plan covers. We refund to the card you paid with, within 14 days of being told.
There is a rule for digital content that would end the cancellation right altogether once supply begins. We do not rely on it. You keep the 14 days on every plan, and the deduction is for what you have actually used.
To use the right, cancel from your account page and email enquiries@assizedata.co.uk saying you are cancelling within the 14 days, or just email us and we will do both. Any clear statement that you are cancelling is enough, and we will acknowledge it.
The model cancellation form
You do not have to use this. Any clear statement that you are cancelling is enough, and the account page is quicker. It is here because regulation 13 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 requires us to make the statutory form available, and because some people would rather use the words the legislation itself sets out. It is Schedule 3 Part B to those Regulations, with our details filled in.

If a payment fails
Nothing abrupt happens. Stripe retries the card over the following days, and your access stays open for a fortnight while that runs. You can replace the card yourself at any point, in the billing portal on your account page. If the payment still has not gone through after that fortnight, the account drops to the free plan.
Nothing you have saved is deleted when a subscription lapses. Your tracked applications, your shortlist, your practice attempts and your reminders are all there if you come back, and the free plan keeps the figures open in the meantime.
If we change a price
A renewal is at the price you signed up at unless we tell you otherwise. If we put a price up we will email every affected subscriber before the renewal that charges it, saying the old amount, the new amount and the date, in time for you to cancel instead. We will not raise a price inside a twelve-month period you have already paid for.
What happens to your data when you stop
If you cancel the subscription, nothing is deleted. The plan drops to free at the end of the period and everything you have made stays in the account.
If you close the account, your tracked applications, your shortlist, your practice attempts and your reminders are deleted immediately. We keep the account row itself, closed and empty — it holds your email address and nothing you made — so that a later sign-up with the same address cannot inherit an old subscription. We also keep the billing record of what we charged you, because we have to keep records of our own sales.
Before you close anything, the account page will hand you everything back as a single JSON file, which is a right the law gives you and a button rather than a request. The privacy notice sets out every retention period.
The law this page is written to, which is not the law you may have read about
The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 created a new regime for subscription contracts — pre-contract information in a prescribed form, reminder notices before every renewal, easy exit, and a fresh cancellation window on some renewals. It has had a great deal of coverage. It is not in force. Part 4 Chapter 2 of that Act is marked prospective and needs commencement regulations that have not been made; the only commencement instruments so far have brought in other parts of the Act. The Department for Business and Trade’s consultation response of 2 April 2026 said the government anticipated the regime commencing in spring 2027, and a government press notice of 9 August 2026 gave January 2027.
So we do not describe this site as complying with that regime, and nobody else selling you a subscription today can either. What governs this contract on is the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and this page is written to them.
The renewal reminders, the one-page pre-contract information above and cancelling online in two steps are what the new regime will require. We do them now because they are the right way to sell a subscription, not because we are obliged to. When the regime does commence, a twelve-month plan will need a second and earlier reminder, and some renewals will carry their own 14-day window with a proportionate refund. We will have both in place before that happens, and this page will say so and give the date.
What a subscription does not buy
Nothing here gives you an advantage with any employer, and we have no influence over anybody's recruitment decision. Training contracts, pupillages and apprenticeships are granted on merit, by the employer, at its own discretion. We publish data and build tools; we do not sell access, and we do not claim a success rate, because nobody has measured one.
Assize Careers is not a regulator, professional body, university, law school or official careers service, and it is not part of or endorsed by one. Nothing on this site is legal advice.
